Building Brands and Communities

Halesowen Athletic and Cycling Club is close to my heart as I ran there from the ages of 9 to 21.

I recently approached them to manage their social media and help them establish a brand identity. It appeared to be somewhat confusing and disjointed across platforms and at the athletics club.

They wanted to modernise the look of the brand on social media, however maintaining the striking yellow with elements of purple.

I decided to bring in a charcoal into the brand colours, which would allow the yellow and purple to become accent colours and create a focus on keywords within posts.

I created highlights which would help the users navigate the instagram and be able to find the appropriate facilities or coaches. As well as creating posters, stories and posts to promote events, groups and competitions.

This is currently an ongoing project I am doing in my spare time.

Current Mini Project

I was given a brief to create a trainer guide to assist the younger athletes when purchasing shoes for various types of running.

Using some of the similar brand marks I have started incorporating into the brand guidelines. The flowing lines help to guide the reader across the guide and make it more playful for the desired audience.

I decided to incorporate illustrations for the various types of shoes to make help guide the user on specific aspects of each shoe and to also help gain attention of passers by when they are displayed on the notice boards around the club.

Promoting events

Examples of posters I have created for a few events that have been held down Halesowen Athletic Club; Couch to 5K and a food bank collection.
